SEC fines LSU $100,000 after fans rush field following win vs. Georgia

It’s special to beat the unbeaten No. 2 team in the country. But it’s not special enough to break SEC rules after doing it.

LSU has been fined $100,000 by the SEC office for a violation of the league’s “access to competition area policy” because Tiger Stadium fans rushed onto the field following the 36-16 victory over Georgia on Saturday.

This fine is the second LSU has received in violation of this rule. Fans also rushed the field after the upset win over Ole Miss in 2014.

LSU would face a $250,000 fine for a third violation. If the Tigers were to upset Alabama late this season, assume the fine would be a lock to happen.
