Scott ThompsonScott Thompson has a rich history in the sport of basketball.

He was a star player at Jesuit, graduating in 1992 before starring at Loyola, where he played through 1996.

Thompson was an assistant coach at Jesuit before becoming the head coach at Brother Martin, where he served six seasons. He guided the Crusaders to the 2010 Class 5A state championship, edging Scotlandville 55-54 for the title. Thompson sported a 120-76 record with the Crusaders. He guided Brother Martin to the semifinals in his final season at the Gentilly school in 2011. Thompson led Brother Martin to the state playoffs in all six of his seasons as head coach.

Thompson returned to Jesuit to work from 2011-16 before being named middle school dean and athletic director at The Good Shepherd Nativity Mission School in 2017.

In early April, Thompson was hired as the new head basketball coach at Archbishop Rummel, where he looks to lift the Raiders to new heights.

“It is incumbent upon myself and all who endeavor to work in schools to form the complete person, educationally, spiritually, personally and emotionally,” Thompson said. “Academic excellence comes first. Archbishop Rummel affords the opportunity to accomplish all of those goals. It is a job that I have felt was a great job for many years, one where you can absolutely achieve great success with outstanding young men and educators with strong Christian values.”

Come hear an inspiring message from Scott Thompson at the weekly Life Resources Bottom Line Luncheon this Wednesday, June 6 at noon at Piccadilly Cafeteria, 2222 Clearview Parkway in Metairie. All are welcome to attend.
