Area Prep Baseball Report for Tuesday, April 4 Destrehan went on the road and edged Thibodaux 2-1 in a District 7-5A contest Monday. John Carmichael went the distance, allowing no earned runs on four hits and struck out 10 in an outstanding performance to get the win. Carmichael helped himself with a double while Jayse Degruy doubled home a run. Brady Mire homered for the Wildcats. The Ponchatoula boys opened the season 0-3, losing three games by a total of 15 points. The Green Wave have rolled since, clearly establishing themselves as prime contender in the state in Class 5A. That was on full display Saturday evening as Ponchatoula shocked two-time defending Class 3A state champion Madison Prep 54-48 in the Charger Classic at Scotlandville.
