Report: Saints WR Michael Thomas to miss several weeks with high ankle sprain
Opening weekend was a good one for the Saints but not necessarily for star wide receiver Michael Thomas.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports Thomas suffered a high-ankle sprain Sunday in the New Orleans win over Tampa Bay.
Typically, the injury takes several weeks to heal. Thomas is reportedly dealing with one severe enough to keep him out multiple games, according to Pelissero.
Thomas is as tough as they come and surely will try to defy that timeline. But it'll be a battle.

Emmanuel Sanders, Tre’Quan Smith and Jared Cook will be among those targets in the Saints passing game who will have to step up if Thomas is limited or unavailable. Tre’Quan Smith becomes a viable waiver pickup.
Thomas caught just three passes for 17 yards against the Bucs before he suffered the ankle injury while blocking for Latavius Murray, who was tackled into Thomas from behind late in the fourth quarter.
