Just when you thought the Saints were likely to be close to full strength for their NFC South battle with the Panthers, fate – and a global pandemic – have intervened.

Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and cornerback Ken Crawley have been placed on the NFL’s reserve/COVID-19 list. Neither will play Sunday.

Meanwhile, wideout Michael Thomas (hamstring/ankle) and guard Nick Easton have been ruled out on the final official injury report of the week. While still trying to come back from a high ankle sprain encountered in week one, Thomas suffered the hamstring injury Wednesday.

New Orleans will have to find a passing attack without their top two receivers and cope with the loss of a starting guard as well.

Although he is no longer listed on the Panthers injury report after appearing Thursday, cornerback Rasul Douglas is also sidelined because he has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
