The New Orleans Saints announced Friday that Drew Brees has been placed on injured reserve.

The move comes as no surprise with the severity of Brees’ current injuries. The 41-year old suffered five broken ribs and a punctured lung in last week’s win against the San Francisco 49ers.

When placed on injured reserve during the 2020 season, a player is out at least three games. Brees will miss this week’s game against the Falcons, next Sunday’s road game at Denver and the following week’s rematch with Atlanta.

To replace Brees this week, reports indicate the Saints will start give Taysom Hill his first NFL start at quarterback.
