After suffering an thumb injury that cost him five games this season, Saints quarterback Drew Brees came back with a vengeance.

The 40-years old capped his regular season with the NFC Offensive Player of the Month award for December, the league announced Thursday.

Brees threw 15 touchdown passes with no interceptions in four December games.

In the highlight outing of the month, Brees was 29-of-30 for 307 yards and four touchdown passes, setting the NFL record for completion percentage (96.7) in a game and becoming the NFL’s all-time leader in touchdown passes.

The honor marks the fifth player of the month award in Brees’ career.
