Sometimes, the next man up motto applies to coaches like it does to players in the NFL.

The Saints have been in need of a linebackers coach since Mike Nolan left the team to become the defensive coordinator in Dallas and they’ve settled on a replacement.

Per multiple reports, the Saints will promote Michael Hodges to linebackers coach.

Hodges, who has served as assistant linebackers coach, fills the void left when Mike Nolan left New Orleans to become the defensive coordinator for the Cowboys.

On staff for the Saints the last three years, Hodges served as a defensive assistant in his first two years before becoming assistant linebackers coach this past year.

Hodges, like Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Aleen, is a Texas A&M product.
