The Saints have made clear their focused efforts to avoid complications from COVID-19 infections, including a team hotel to help insulate the team during training camp.

However, a pair of players are already sidelined due to the virus.

Linebacker Kaden Ellis and long snapper Zach Wood were placed on the NFL’s COVID-19/reserve list Thursday. The duo are the first New Orleans players to be added to the list as the league copes with the pandemic. Twenty-five teams had placed at least one player on the list through Wednesday.

Players on the list have either tested positive or have come in close contact with an infected person. To be removed from the list, a player must have a pair of negative test results.
