Saints-Bucs draws high ratings for opening week game

It comes as no surprise here.

As we stated many times on our CCS affiliated radio shows, the belief was that the game would have a huge viewership. That was in fact the case.

Fox Sports PR released ratings for the New Orleans Saints season opening game with Tampa Bay. Simply put, the numbers were virtually off the charts.

The much anticipated matchup pitting all-time greats Drew Brees and Tom Brady drew a 16.2 overnight rating, which Fox projects the game as the “most-watched telecast of any kind since Super Bowl LIV.”

The fact that no fans were allowed at the game with the rabid fan base of the Saints and the keen interest from Bucs fans over the anticipation of Brady making his debut with his new team, along with high interest nationally produced the huge numbers.

The 16.2 rating was the largest for a FOX NFL Week 1 game in the last four years.
