Saints bring back Malcolm Roach, add safety Jonathan Abram and lineman Storm Norton

The Saints are re-signing Malcolm Roach, Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports.

The former undrafted rookie from Texas signed in 2020. The team did not tender Roach this offseason as a restricted free agent but Roach opted to return after reported interest from other teams.

In 2022, Roach had a career-high 26 tackles and a sack in 13 games with three starts.

Meanwhile, the Saints added another veteran defensive back by agreeing to terms with safety Johnathan Abram, reports ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

The former first-round draft choice of the Raiders in 2019 played for the Packers and Seahawks. Abram has 267 tackles and three interceptions in his career.

New Orleans has already signed free agent safeties Ugo Amadi and Lonnie Johnson, Jr. this offseason.

Also, the Saints confirmed that thay have come to terms with free agent tackle Storm Norton on a one-year contract.

Norton, 6-7, 317, originally entered the NFL signing with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent in 2017 out of Toledo. He has appeared in 36 games with 18 starts for the Minnesota Vikings (2018) and Los Angeles Chargers (2020-22). In addition to his NFL experience, Norton started all five games at left tackle for the XFL’s Los Angeles Wildcats in 2020.

Norton played in 27 games the past two years for the Chargers and started 15 games in 2021 at right tackle.
