Saints bring back kicker Patrick Murray, long snapper Justin Drescher
The Saints are addressing special teams needs with roster moves Sunday, signing kicker Patrick Murray and long snapper Justin Drescher.
To make room on the training camp roster, long snappers Thomas Gafford and Chase Dominguez were released.
Drescher spent the past seven seasons in New Orleans, and the team has decided to go back to a proven performer after Gafford and Domingeuz struggled in camp.
Murray, who tried out with the Saints during minicamp, has NFL experience including two games with the Cleveland Browns last season. He also connected on 20 of 24 field goal tries for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2014.
Murray could provide relief in camp reps or competition for Wil Lutz, the second-year kicker who was signed during the 2016 season.
