Saints add free agent wide receiver Bryan Edwards

Former Falcons and Raiders wide receiver Bryan Edwards is signing with the Saints, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

Edwards rejoins quuarterback Derek Carr in New Orleans after one year in Atlanta. A former third-round pick in 2020 out out South Carolina, Edwards started 15 games in his first two NFL seasons for Las Vegas before being traded to the Falcons last offseason. He had 764 yards receiving with four touchdown with the Raiders.

The 6-foot-3, 215 pounder caught three passes for 15 yards before Atlanta cut him in November. Edwards fiinishes last season on the Kansas City practice squad.

Edwards will compete for a roster spot with Tre’Quan Smith, Keith Kirkwood, Kirk Merritt, and Kawaan Baker. The top three receivers in New Orleans are Michael Thomas, Chris Olave and surprise 2022 rookie standout Rashid Shaheed.
