Former St. Paul’s and LSU infielder Ryan Schimpf is on the move again.

The Tampa Bay Rays have traded Schimpf to the Atlanta Braves in for a player to be named or cash.

Schimpf was designated for assignment two days ago to clear room on the Tampa 40-man roster for newly-signed free agent outfielder Carlos Gomez.

The 29-year-old Schimpf hitd .158 with 14 homers and 25 RBIs in 53 games last season with San Diego. The Rays acquired him in December for a minor league prospect.
