Ruston sweeps boys, girls indoor track meet as locals fare well

At the Ochsner LHSAA Indoor Track meet Saturday at Carl Maddox Field House on the campus of LSU, Ruston flexed its muscle, winning both the boys and girls Division I team titles.

The Bearcat boys edged Catholic High of Baton Rouge by a point for the title. Karr was the top area finisher, coming in fifth.

Among top performances by area schools, Beau Domingue of Hammond won the pole vault with a vault of 16-0 ¾.

Zander Dunbar of St. Augustine took first in the 800 meter run in a time of 1:57.70.

Ra’hji Dennis of Karr was best in the 60 meter dash in a time of 6.85.

Nathan Fontan of Mandeville won the 3,200 race in a time of 9:30.46.

Jesuit won the 4×800 relay in a time of 8:07.86.

Ruston took the girls title by a solid 22-point margin over St. Joseph’s Academy.

The boys Division II title went to University High by a convincing margin over second-place Lake Charles College Prep.

Trey Hauge of Lutcher took first in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:04.14.

The girls Division II title went to St. Louis Catholic with Episcopal second. St. Thomas Aquinas was the top area finisher, coming in fifth.

Breanna Becerra of St. Thomas Aquinas captured the 800 meter run in a time of 2:24.19.

Svenya Stoyanoff of Christ Episcopal was victorious in the 1,600 meters in a time of 5:18.47.
