Ruston, St. Joseph top Louisiana high school cross country polls

Ruston and St. Joseph Academy top the polls of the Louisiana High School Cross Country Coaches Association released Monday.

The Bearcats edged out Jesuit for the top spot in the boys rankings. Ruston got six first-place votes while the Blue Jays received four votes. Defending 5A state champion Catholic of Baton Rouge is a close third with Mandeville fourth and Zachary fifth. Brother Martin is seventh with Belle Chasse No. 10.

Defending 5A state champion St. Joseph is a unanimous choice for the top spot in the girls poll. The Redstickers received all 10 first-place votes. Ruston is second with Dominican third and Vandebilt Catholic fourth. Fontainebleau is fifth. Mandeville is tenth.
