Ruston, St. Joe’s, Westgate, Vandebilt Catholic win state track & field titles

Ruston, St. Joseph’s Academy, Westgate and Vandebilt Catholic claimed LHSAA state track and field championships Saturday at Bernie Moore Track & Field Stadium on the campus of LSU.

Ruston won the boys Class 5A title with Zachary second. Jesuit was the top local finisher, coming in fifth.

Michael Vocke of Jesuit won the 1,600 meter run while Jack DesRoches of the Blue Jays captured the 3,200 meter title.

John O’Conor of Mandeville won the javelin toss and Seth Pagart of the Skippers took the shot put title.

St. Joseph’s Academy took the girls 5A championship with Zachary second and John Curtis Christian third.

Raven Nunnery of the Lady Patriots took first in the 200 meter run and Laila Jackson of Curtis won the 800 meter run. John Curtis also won the 4×400 relay.

Mandeville won the 4×800 meter relay.

Westgate took the boys 4A state championship with Warren Easton finishing second.

Leon Elloie of Warren Easton swept the 100 and 200 meter dashes.

Lawrence Lambert of Carver won the long jump title.

Belle Chasse took first in the 4×800 relay and Louden Boudreaux of the Cardinals swept the 1,600 meter run and the 3,200 meter races and was named Most Outstanding Performer in class for the meet.

Vandebilt Catholic took first in the 4A girls team race with Huntington second.

Miranda Tillery of Lakeshore won the high jump while Reign Riley of Lusher Charter took first in the shot put.
