NEW ORLEANS, La. (Feb. 6, 2022) – The Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series returned to the Big Easy for the first time in two years, with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series New Orleans event. Participants were provided a one-of-a-kind running tour of New Orleans and the surrounding areas that provided participants with lakefront views, beautiful parks, dazzling floats, and live music throughout. Over 12,000 registered participants took to the streets lined with cheer squads, local bands and entertainment from start to finish.

The 2022 Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series New Orleans racing kicked off on Saturday, Feb. 5 with the 5K taking off and finish on the campus of the University of New Orleans. The excitement continued Sunday with the half marathon and 10K that also started at the University of New Orleans. Participants traversed the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain passing down Lakeshore Drive before returning to the University of New Orleans for the Finish Line Festival and Encore Entertainment.

Jack Mastandrea (Rochester, Mich.) took the overall win in the half marathon clocking a time of 1:04:55. John Borjesson (Boulder, Colo.) was second with a time of 1:05:28 and Ben Kendell (Rochester, Mich.) followed in third place finishing in 1:06:01. Anne-Marie Blaney (Rochester, Mich.) was the women’s winner with a final time of 1:15:12 with Megan O’Neil (Rochester, Mich.) followed in second with a finishing time of 1:16:58.

Elite runners and fast times aside, the weekend’s events were all about the party atmosphere. Several local bands, including Black Laurel, Colin Davis and The Night People, Muff-a-Lottas, Smokin on Some Brass, and The New Orleans Swinging G’s among many other talented artists from the New Orleans community performed live on band stages and Mardi Gras themed floats along the route interspersed with cheerleaders and crowd support. The party wasn’t only on the course – local saxophonist, singer, and songwriter James Martin and The James Martin Band closed out the show as the Encore Entertainment.
