In 2011, Rod Cusachs guided Archbishop Rummel to the Division I state championship, the first and only state title in the sport for the Raiders, serving as head coach at the Metairie school from 2008-2013.

In 2018, Cusachs returned to Rummel as its head coach after leading De La Salle to a pair of Division III state championships.

While the process will take time, Cusachs has Rummel back on track to becoming a real factor in the sport.

Rummel captured the Jefferson Parish championship at the Rummel Gym Friday, easily outdistancing second-place John Ehret. John Curtis Christian was third.

The Raiders had four individual champions, including Isaac Suarez (120), Logan Bock (132), Jacob Ramirez (145) and Kolbe Fields (195).

John Ehret had three champions including Elijah Lanigan (152), Alvin Diggs III (160) and Jeff Fisackerly (170).

John Curtis winners included Sean King (106), Colton Kendrick (126), Brendan Wilcox (138) and John Drake (285).
