Robinson and Thibodeaux combine for 42 in UNO loss to Nicholls
Privateers fall to 9-3 in Southland play
NEW ORLEANS – Travin Thibodeaux finished with his ninth 20-point game of the season and Bryson Robinson came off the bench with 22 points – 15 from three-point range – in the University of New Orleans’ (12-11, 9-3 Southland) 81-64 loss to Nicholls State University (14-9, 8-2 Southland) Saturday afternoon at Lakefront Arena.
Robinson connected on five triples and Thibodeaux tallied his 16-consecutive double-digit game with the 20 points.
The Privateers struggled offensively, shooting 29.6 percent from the floor as Nicholls led 35-23 at the half.
Inserted back into the starting lineup, Makur Puou scored seven points and pulled down five rebounds.
The Colonels came out strong to extend the lead to 48-27 at the under 16 media.
Moments later, a 23-point Nicholls lead was cut to 17 after six unanswered, capped off by a Diontae Champion tip that led to a Thibodeaux steal and Robinson triple.
The lead was condensed to 10 with 2:08 to go after back-to-back triples by Robinson but the Colonels knocked down free throws down the stretch to improve to 8-2 in Southland play.
The Privateers heads to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday at 7 p.m.
