River Ridge clinches CCSL playoff spot with win over State Farm

John Curtis-based River Ridge clinched a spot in the Crescent City Sports Prep Summer League playoffs with an 11-6 win over Ascension Catholic-based State Farm Wednesday afternoon at Mike Miley Stadium in Metairie.

The game was called in the fourth inning due to rain.

The two teams each scored five runs in the first two innings before the Patriots (10-2-1) erupted for six runs in the bottom of the third inning. State Farm added a run in the top of the fourth.

Jeffrey Curtis and Kolston Martinez each homered for River Ridge. Curtis had two hits and two RBI while Tyler Mitchell produced two hits and three RBI. Josh Eames added a hit and two RBI.

Dylan Gilbert went two innings, allowing five runs on four hits before Juan Washington went the final inning and two-thirds for the Patriots.

Jackson Landry was tremendous for State Farm (0-8), going 2 for 2 with five RBI. Peyton Dunn was 3 for 3 with a run scored.

The Patriots clinched the third seed for the playoffs, set for July 6 and July 7 at Lutcher.
