The Saints plan to meet with a former All-Pro running back still on the free agent market but it isn’t Adrian Peterson.

Former Kansas City Chiefs star Jamaal Charles, who played for the Denver Broncos last season, will visit the Saints practice facility on Wednesday. First reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, multiple outlets have confirmed the news.

Schefter later added that former Ravens starting running back Terrance West will also visit Wednesday.

The 31-year old Charles is a two-time All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowler who had 296 rushing yards, 129 receiving yards and one touchdown in 14 games during the 2017 season. Injuries slowed the University of Texas product down in the final two seasons of his eight years in Kansas City.

The 26-year old West has had success at times in his career during stops with the Cleveland Browns and, most recently, the Baltimore Ravens. The physical runner led the Ravens in rushing in 2016 but played just five games last year due to a calf injury.

A former Saints running back, Tim Hightower, is also trying out for a contract during minicamp this week. The 32-year old played for New Orleans in 2015 and 2016.

Saints head coach Sean Payton had previously noted that the team was not seeking veteran help at the position after Mark Ingram was suspended for the first four game of the upcoming regular season due to a drug test violation.
