Texas and Oklahoma have contacted the the SEC about potentially joining the conference, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The two schools could leave the Big XII to join the SEC “within a few weeks,” the report indicates.

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey responded to the report but did not confirm or deny it.

“We are only worried about the 2021 season. Somebody dropped a report from unnamed people,” said Sankey at SEC Media Days in Hoover, Ala. on Wednesday.

The Big XII, currently with 10 member institutions, would seemingly be crippled and face extinction if it lost its two most lucrative programs. The SEC has 14 members.
