Report: Suns guard Devin Booker likely to miss rest of Pelicans series with hamstring strain
Suns star guard Devin Booker’s return during the Western Conference first-round series against the Pelicans is in serious doubt.
Booker scored 31 points in the first half of Game 2 on Tuesday night, but the top-seed’s leading scorer didn’t score in the third quarter before suffering what ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported Thursday is a Grade 1 hamstring strain.
Recovery for that injury ttypically takes 2-to-3 weeks. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski previously reported Booker would likely miss Games 3 and 4 against the Pelicans, and the series is scheduled to be completed by April 30 when a potential Game 7 would be played. Booker missed seven games early in the season due to a hamstring injury.
Booker averaged 26.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game in the regular season.
Game 3 is Friday night in New Orleans with the Pelicans now holding the homecourt edge in the best-of-seven series.
