The Associated press reported Monday that Saints starting left guard Andrus Peat has a hand injury. More clarity came Tuesday.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports the Pro Bowl performer has a broken thumb.

Since surgery reportedly is still a up in the air, it is unknown if the Stanford product will miss regular season action.

Peat, a 2015 first-round draft choice by New Orleans, is in the first season of a five-year extension worth $57.5 million.
