Replay of both boys bracket finals in the 2020 Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic

WESTWEGO – McGill-Toolen captured the State Bracket championship at the 11th Annual Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic with a 60-51 victory over Ellender in the title game Saturday in a game aired live on Crescent City Sports.

The Yellow Jackets (18-3) took a 13-8 lead after one quarter, a quarter with three lead changes and led 26-21 at halftime after a second quarter with three more lead changes.

The third quarter saw four more lead changes before McGill-Toolen grabbed a 42-40 lead at the end of the third quarter.

After the Patriots pulled within 46-45 in the fourth quarter, the Yellow Jackets had a decisive 6-0 run and held off Ellender.

Arkansas commit Barry Dunning was a force, scoring 17 points, pulling down 13 rebounds and dishing out three assists. Dunning added a pair of blocks and was named the Most Outstanding Player in the bracket.

Devin McCaine came off the bench to score 12 points, including 10 in the decisive fourth quarter. Myles Murphy also scored 12 points and had four assists with three rebounds.

Ryan Williams Jr. led Ellender (11-7) with 15 points while Richie Hampton finished with 12 points and three rebounds. Terrell Carter added nine points.

McGill-Toolen overcame 18 turnovers but the Yellow Jackets owned the boards with a huge 26-13 edge.
