RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech men’s basketball locker room is receiving a facelift this summer with demolition already underway for the estimated three-month project.

The locker room project, made possible by 100 percent private donations, will feature 15 individual lockers with retractable doors and video monitors at the top to display student-athlete information.

“We greatly appreciate the generous contributions of our supporters as well as the leadership of Dr. Guice and Tommy McClelland for making this possible, “head coach Eric Konkol said. “This locker area will be first class and a special place for our student-athletes as they prepare for practices and games.

“It will also be an impressive stop for recruits and their families while touring the Thomas Assembly Center. Thank you to the LA Tech Family on campus and in the community for their commitment to this project and helping our program improve.”

The lockers will also include inscription at the bottom to display who donated the locker. A student-athlete locker can be named for a $2,500 donation which goes directly to the project (only two are left to be named).

Removal of lockers took place in June while a new drop ceiling, flooring and lighting will be addressed in July. D1 Design Group out of Waco, Texas will handle the locker fabrication and graphics installation which will take place in August.

The project is scheduled to be completed on Sept. 1 as an unveiling with student-athletes and donors to follow shortly after that.

Private support from donors has impacted the Bulldog Basketball team for the second year in a row after last year’s foreign tour trip to Costa Rica. That was also made possible through 100 percent donations from Louisiana Tech alumni and friends.
