It was only a spring scrimmage, but it’s definitely a sign that normalcy is starting to return.

The site was Hoss Memtsas Stadium. The St. Augustine Purple Knights were on the visiting side, and the West Jefferson Buccaneers were on their familiar home side. Knights and Bucs fans filled up the home bleachers. It was a beautiful sight to see.

No score was taken, but three hours of work put in by the teams with a conference of referees mostly from the Big XII was a site to behold. Running, throwing, catching, blocking and tackling took place.

Both teams prayed together as both coaches were happy with their teams performances, and a fun time was had by all. That eight letter word didn’t even get mentioned. Similar scrimmages also happened on other fields around the state.

I know we had football in the fall but this felt more familiar.

Like I said before. Normalcy is starting to return and it feels great.
