EUNICE, La. – Trips to take on national champions and national powers highlight a daunting 2019 schedule for LSU Eunice as the Bengals unveiled their schedule for the upcoming season. The Bengals will take on a total of five teams that have played in the NJCAA World Series in the last three seasons.

“We are excited about what we believe is a very challenging schedule for our team,” said Jeff Willis, entering his 17th year as LSU Eunice head coach. “It was a priority to get teams that have postseason experience to try to season our team and I think we accomplished that.”

For the seventh straight season, LSU Eunice will open the spring season against North Lake College. The three-game series will be part of back-to-back weekends at home as the Bengals will take on Paris JC on February 1-3. LSU Eunice will host 27 home games during the 2019 season.

The Bengals, ranked No. 1 in the nation by Collegiate Baseball, will make a quick trip to New Orleans to face Nunez CC and St. Louis CC (Feb. 9) before returning home for a single game against 2018 NJCAA Division II World Series participant Monroe CC on February 13.

For the second straight season, LSUE will face Coastal Bend College in a pair of home-and-home series. The Bengals travel to Beeville on February 15-16 while the Cougars make a return trip to Eunice for March 22-23.

The Bengals will again have several other split series, this year featuring Baton Rouge CC (Mar. 15-17, Apr. 12-14), LSU Alexandria (Mar. 28, Apr. 10), Wharton County JC (Apr. 1, Apr. 16), Panola College (Mar. 25, Apr. 8) and Tyler JC (Apr. 6-7, Apr. 26-27). The Apaches were the national runner-up in NJCAA Division III a season ago.

An annual visit from Kellogg CC for a four-game series (Feb. 22-24) precedes a difficult weekend in Mississippi. The Bengals will battle perennial power Jones College (2016 NJCAA Division II National Champs) and Illinois Central in a March 1 doubleheader, followed by a March 2 twinbill at East Central.

LSUE turns around the following weekend (Mar. 8-10) to host 2017 Division II World Series participant Murray State College and 2018 MACJC State Champions, Pearl River JC.

The Bengals closes out the 2019 campaign with a weekend trip to 2018 Division I Champion, Chipola College, to face a collection of teams as preparation for the postseason.

LSUE was recently ranked preseason number one by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper as the Bengals welcome the return of six regular starters from the 2018 National Championship team.
