Reeves Martin

NEW ORLEANS – University of New Orleans closer Reeves Martin was named to the Midseason Update for the 15th Annual NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award. The junior – who appeared on the list in the preseason – is one of 45 relievers on the awards list and one of just two representing the Southland Conference.

Of the 45 players on the midseason list, five appeared on the preseason watch including Martin.

The Tampa native set the program record in career saves earlier this season and enters the weekend 3-0 with a 1.04 ERA and 11 saves. With 41 strikeouts in 26.0 innings, Martin is limiting opponents to a .138 batting average. He is a perfect 11-for-11 in save opportunities, good for fourth in the nation. He has not allowed a run in the last 11.1 frames and in that span, he has 16 strikeouts to just two hits.
