Reese leads LSU past Hawai’i in NCAA first round win
BATON ROUGE — Despite facing double teams throughout the contest, LSU all-American Angel Reese led the Tigers into the second round of the NCAA Tournament, 73-50, over No. 14-seeded Hawai’i on Friday at the Maravich Center.
Reese completed her 29th double double of the 2022-23 season with a 34 points along with 15 rebounds. She made 13-of-20 field goals and 8-of-12 free throws in 36 minutes.
The 34-point effort tied LSU’s NCAA Tournament single-game record, which was set by Marie Ferdinand at Purdue in 2001.
Third-seeded LSU (29-2) will play host to No. 6 seed Michigan on Sunday at the Maravich Center for a chance to advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2014.
