LSU added their 16th football commitment in the 2024 recruiting cycle Thursday.

Westgate defensive lineman De’Myrion Johnson has chosen the Tigers over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Oregon, Oklahoma State, Miami, Texas A&M, Florida, Texas, Michigan State, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Nebraska and Ole Miss. He is the first LSU prospect to commit who was primarily recruited by new LSU defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsay.

The 6-foot-2, 275 pounder runs a 4.8 in the 40-yard dash, bench presses 330 pounds and squats 485.

Johnson made an unofficial visit July 29 after receiving an offer June 21. He grew up loving the Tigers.

The first commitment at defensive tackle for the Tigers in this class, Johnson is the 11th rated player in Louisiana in this class and the 44th overall ranked defensive tackle in the nation. He grew up loving the Tigers.

His top traits are a quick first step, ability to create push on the pocket with penetration and hands usage. He has played mostly two-gap.

Johnson shows some of what a young Booger McFarland displayed at the same stage.
