The 6-foot, 221 pounder could be a steal for head coach Billy Napier and his staff. He held offers from Penn State, Arizona State, Colorado, Tulane, Tennessee, Memphis, Mississippi State, South Alabama and Michigan State.
A vicious tackler, Edwards seems to knock sparks off of runners in the process of making the stop. He diagnosis the action quickly and has a good initial step.
Edwards collected 45 tackles with eight for losses, three sacks and a pair of forced fumbles for the Rams in earning district defensive MVP recognition. As a sophomore in a full season, he totaled 79 stops (11 TFL) and six sacks. Edwards also participates in the shot put, discus and relays at West St. John.
I ranked him as the top 2022 inside linebacker in the Greater Metro New Orleans area.
