Recruiting: Walker High’s Jalen Cook commits to LSU basketball

Will Wade continues to have success bringing talent into his LSU men’s basketball program.

Walker High’s Jalen Cook‍ has committed Tuesday evening to the basketball Tigers for the Class of 2020.

The 6-foot, 185 pounder also had offers from Arizona State, Georgetown, Houston, Miami among others.

Louisiana’s Gatorade Basketball Player of the Year for 2019 averaged 29.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game as a junior.

Cook is also a well regarded wide receiver and defensive back for the Walker football team. He holds gridiron offers from Arizona State, La. Tech, Auburn, Miami, Southern Miss, Virginia, West Va. Tennessee, Tulane and Tulsa

The dual sport star is the second to pledge to the Tigers for 2020, joining 4 star safety Jordan Toles from Washington DC. Toles has only played football for two seasons but his future appears to lie there.

– 4 star center Jaylin Williams (6-9, 230) from Fort Smith, Arkansas has LSU among his top five along with Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Auburn, Illinois and Iowa State.
– 4 star PF Greg Brown (6-9, 195) from Austin, Texas lists his top nine as LSU, Auburn, Baylor, Kansas, North Carolina, Kentucky, UCLA, Texas and Texas A&M.
– 5 star center N’Faly Dante from Wichita, Kansas favors LSU, Kansas , Kentucky and Oregon.
– 4 star PF Micah Peavy (6-5, 172) out of Duncanville, Texas looks like an LSU-Michigan tug-o-war.
