Recruiting: Texas prep 2021 quarterback Kai Horton to Tulane
Tulane’s 2021 signing class expended by one with the addition of three-star quarterback Kai Horton from Carthage, Texas. He represents the only quarterback thus far in the ’21 signing class.
On December 6, four-star QB Ty Keyes backed out of his pledge to the Green Wave and eventually signed with with Southern Miss and former Tulane offensive coordinator Will Hall.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Horton is 30-0 as a starter at Carthage, capturing the 2020 Division 4A II state title with a 70-14 beat down over Gilmore High School. For the season, Horton has thrown for 2,924 yards, 34 touchdown passes and only two interceptions, completing 66.7%. For his two year career, Horton has 6,665 yards passing, 83 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
The 42th ranked pro style passer in the country fielded offers from McNeese and Stephen F. Austin. He got looks from Texas, Baylor, Southern Miss, LA Tech, Houston and North Texas. Horton also excels on the hardwood as a point guard.
Carthage running back Mason Courtney who plans to sign with Tulane for the ’21 class was cited by Horton as influential in his recruitment. Courtney (5-9, 185) tallied 243 yards rushing with three scores in the state title game.
