Recruiting: St. Thomas More QB Caleb Holstein commits to Harvard
In what may be considered a surprise move Sunday, quarterback Caleb Holstein out of St. Thomas More in Lafayette committed to Harvard. He becomes the third pledge for Ivy League program for 2020.

Holstein also had offers from UL-Lafayette, Boston College, LA Tech, UTSA, Cincinnati, Western Kentucky, Missouri, Tulsa, Southern Miss and Dartmouth. He camped at LSU and visited Memphis.
The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder is the third-ranked QB in Louisiana’s 2020 class and the 30th overall prospect in the state according to 247 Sports.
Holstein threw for 3,854 yards and 47 touchdowns with only seven interceptions, completing 71.6 percent of his throws during an All-State campaign last season. The pro-style prospect led the Cougars to the LHSAA Division II title game. He has great touch on his deep throws and looks very patient in the pocket.
A highly intelligent player who was allowed to check off as a sophomore, Holstein has the game in his blood. His dad Scott punted at LSU in the 1980s.
