The twice All-State and three-time All-District selection received looks from both SWAC and in-state Louisiana schools.
The 6-foot-2, 265-pound Phillip has started at St. James since his freshman season. He holds a 3.3 GPA.
Capable of playing on either side of the ball, Jace has lined up at left guard and left tackle on offense and as an end and tackle on defense for the Wildcats. He has also participated in throwing the shot put for the St. James track team.
Phillip applies pressure as a defensive lineman who penetrates and uses his hands very well. Powerfully built, he dead lifts 555 pounds, squats 520 and bench presses 295.
Offensive line could be where his college position lies. Robert Valdez, who was Phillip’s head coach at St. James, is in his first year as the offensive line coach at Grambling.
