Recruiting: St. Augustine cornerback Jhamal Shelby commits to Louisiana Tech

St. Augustine cornerback Jhamal Shelby committed Sunday to Louisiana Tech, becoming the Bulldogs’ sixth pledge for the 2022 class.

Shelby also considered Tulane, Memphis, Mississippi State, Florida State, Louisville and Virginia. The three-star recruit has 4.55 speed.

Very aggressive in coverage, the 6-foot-2, 180 pounder tallied 14 pass break ups, three interceptions, 35 tackles with four for losses this past season for the Purple Knights.

Shelby has good length and looks comfortable in press coverage. He closes quickly and mirrors receivers downfield.
