Immediately prior to the LSU-Alabama game Saturday night in Tiger Stadium, edge rusher Dylan Carpenter decided he wanted to be part of the Purple and Gold, delivering the news to coach Brian Kelly and assistant coach Frank Wilson.

The 6-4, 245-pound product of St. Amant previously committed to Louisiana-Lafayette on July 31 but backed off when LSU came calling. Carpenter deliberated for less than 24 hours on his LSU offer before deciding.

The District 5-5A Defensive MVP represents the 25th overall commit to the Tigers for 2023 and the third since October 26.

Carpenter also considered offers from Tulane, Troy, Rice, Utah State, Arkansas State, Charlotte and Louisiana Tech.

A fierce, relentless pass rusher who can seal the edge, Carpenter will chase plays down and never quit until a whistle stops the action.
