Recruiting: Scotlandville safety Kelvin Joseph commits to LSU
LSU found a surprise package under their tree two weeks after Christmas.
elite 2018 safety Kelvin Joseph out of Scotlandville pledged to the Tigers, giving them 22 spots now filled for the 2018 class. Joseph originally committed to LSU but re-opened process in October.
Ranked as the state’s No. 3 overall prospect by 24/7 Sports and the fourth best safety in the country, the 6-foot-2, 193 pounder tallied 123 tackles with 22 passes defended and five interceptions his final two seasons. He plays much like former LSU star safety Eric Reid.
Expect Joseph to immediately upgrade the safety spot for 2018. He may be good enough to team up with ’17 true freshman safety Grant Delpit.
Joseph had planned to visit LSU on January 19, followed by weekend trips to Alabama and Auburn before signing day. It’s still undetermined if he will follow through on his visits although unlikely. It was an LSU-Alabama close finish.
