Archbishop Rummel linebacker Kolbe Fields is headed to South Carolina to play for the Gamecocks.

The 6-foot-1, 205 pounder had originally pledged to Memphis on July 24 but re-opened the process after the turn of the new year.

Fields is poised to join a stellar 2021 class for the SEC East program with five players who signed in the early session that are early enrollees. Four others signed in December but will arrive in June. Fields is one of two players committed who are scheduled to sign on February 3.

A downhill tackler with outstanding closing speed, Fields zeroes in on targets and is almost always in the correct spot to make a play. He diagnoses plays quickly and brings added value as a good blitzer.

The Raiders standout tallied 58 stops with six for losses and a pair of sacks this past season. As a junior, Fields led the 2019 state champions with 105 tackles with 10 behind the line of scrimmage.
