It has been a roller coaster ride for Jackson Dennies.

As a sophomore at Archbishop Rummel, Dennies suffered a catastrophic knee injury, tearing all of the ligaments in his knee.

That ended his career as a football player for the Raiders.

Playing baseball was another matter.

Dennies worked overtime to rehab the knee and returned for his junior season in 2019.

He was outstanding, leading the Raiders to the Division I state championship game.

Now, Dennies has been rewarded for his efforts.

Dennies has committed to play college baseball at Notre Dame.

As a junior, Dennies (6-3, 225) batted .272 with seven doubles, two triples, a home run and 28 RBI as he split time between catching and pitching.

On the mound, Dennies made his mark, going 9-1 with a 1.60 ERA and two saves. In 61 innings pitched, Dennies allowed just 40 hits. He walked 38 and struck out 87 as opponents batted just 185 against him. Dennies consistently threw in the mid 80’s with his fastball in 2019 and can touch the upper 80’s. A year further removed from the injury, Dennies could see his velocity increase in 2020.
