With interest beginning to come in on many fronts, quarterback Chandler Fields decided that he wanted to make a commitment early in the process for the Class of 2019.

The Archbishop Rummel standout has committed to UL Lafayette.

In his junior season at Rummel, Fields (5-11, 182) passed for 2,359 yards and 30 touchdowns. He completed 179-of-303 passes for 2,359 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Raiders head coach Jay Roth feels the offer was well deserved.

“I’m very happy for him,” Roth said. “He’s a very hard worker. He has always aspired to play at the next level and he will do well. Of course, we are looking forward to a great senior year from him. His arm strength and footwork are his best assets. He is a football version of a gym rat. He loves the game. It would be nice for people to see him play at the next level in Louisiana.”

Fields had an offer from Memphis as well while Tulane has been monitoring him closely as well.
