Tim Rebowe has built the Nicholls Colonels into a force in the Southland Conference and in the FCS of college football. They have done it by recruiting primarily in south Louisiana.

That trend continues.

The latest area star to commit to Nicholls is Archbishop Rummel defensive back Corey Smooth, who made his announcement via Twitter Wednesday evening.

Smooth (6-0, 180) missed the first four games of his junior season but came on late in the year to make his mark. Smooth is part of a fast, talented defense at Rummel which includes Quinton Cage, South Alabama commit Jordan Williams and Vanderbilt commit Donovan Kaufman, among others.
