The football coaching staff at LSU is concentrating on the current recruiting class with an eye to the future.

In the latter category, the Tigers picked up their third pledge for the 2020 class. Ponchatoula 4 star quarterback T.J. Finley decided on LSU over offers from Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, North Carolina, La. Tech, Miss. State and Ole Miss.

Rated as the No. 9 pro style passer in the ’20 class by 24/7 Sports, the 6-foot-7 Finley tossed for 1,883 yards and 14 touchdowns with eight interceptions as a sophomore. He attended camp at LSU this past weekend.

Finley also called LSU his “dream school” and developed a comfort level with Steve Ensminger as offensive coordinator. Tigers assistant Mickey Joseph, who collaborated on Finley’s recruitment, played for Ponchatoula head coach Hank Tierney while at Archbishop Shaw.

As a six-year old, Finley reportedly stood 5-foot-4 and threw a football 40 yards. The progression continued. He is very smart and athletic, processing quickly while showing off both arm strength and accuracy. He shines in the classroom (3.5 GPA) and would like to major in pre-law.

Finley plans to attend the Manning Passing Academy this month in Thibodaux where the top-rated quarterback in the state of Louisiana for the 2020 class will be able to further showcase and sharpen his skills.
