LSU had a key edge in the recruitment of Wingo, who played for new Tigers cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples in high school at De Smet in the St. Louis area.
The 6-foot-1, 275-pound Wingo had seven tackles with two for loss, one sack, a pair of quarterback hurries and an interception returned for a touchdown last season for Mizzou to earn Freshman All-SEC honors.
Wingo brings versatility to LSU’s defensive front that currently features returnees Maason smith, BJ Ojulari Jaquelin Roy and Ali Gaye.
