Recruiting: LSU secures commitment from 2020 tight end Kole Taylor
— Kole Taylor (@KoleTaylor3) July 20, 2019
Tight end Kole Taylor out of Grand Junction, Colorado pledged to LSU this weekend over offers from Penn State, Colorado and others.
The 6-foot-7, 228 pounder in the 2020 class grabbed 29 passes last season for 510 yards and eight touchdowns. He represents the 21st commitment for the rapidly-filling class for the Purple and Gold. Taylor fills a void for at the tight end spot in this class. He has been ranked as the No. 10 player at the position in the nation by at least one recruiting service.
Not a blocking tight end, Taylor is more of a long-bodied wide receiver. He runs well after the catch, uses his body well to shield off defenders, adjusts to throws well and shows talent as a nifty broken field runner.
Taylor visited campus June 10 and came away impressed with the impact passing coordinator Joe Brady may have on this year’s LSU offense.
In 2021 recruiting efforts, LSU hosted 3 star quarterback Peter Costelli (6-3, 205) on an unofficial visit. The Mission Viejo, California product came away with a positive impression of the offensive scheme and facilities.
He demonstrates good mechanics, a quick release and nice touch on his deep throws.
Costelli, who had a throwing session with offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger on his viist, plans to make a return visit to LSU. Oregon appears to be his current frontrunner but LSU, Nebraska, Utah, Colorado, California, Arizona, Boston College, Duke, USC and UCLA are in the mix.
