Recruiting: LSU gains commitment from 2022 safety Bryan Allen, Jr.

Don’t try to tell me that the viral pandemic currently a caused a “dead period” in college football recruiting? Ed Orgeron and his staff at LSU are feeling quite lively, burning up the phone lines and laying the groundwork for the future.

The Tigers secured one of those bricks to the building process for the future Thursday, gaining a verbal commitment from 2022 safety Bryan Allen, Jr.

The 6-foot, 183 pounder out of Aledo, Texas is ranked as the second best safety nationally in the 2022 recruiting cycle. LSU assistant Bill Busch was instrumental in securing his pledge.

Allen was highly coveted with offers from USC, Texas A&M, Florida, TCU, Texas, Nebraska, Kansas, Baylor, Houston, Arkansas, Oklahoma, SMU, Utah and Oklahoma State. He represents the fourth commitment for the Tigers for the ’22 recruiting class.

As a sophomore last season, he helps Aledo capture their second consecutive Texas Class 5A state title. He recorded an impressive 122 tackles, three interceptions and three forced fumbles, returning two for scores.

Allen plays center field in the defensive alignment, diagnosing play quickly with a nose for the ball. He is an excellent run defender and displays good one on one cover skills.

A track runner as well, Allen has posted a 4.6 40-yard time and 11.49 in the hundred meters. He runs the 200 meters and the first leg for Aledo’s 4X100 relay team.
