John Curtis Christian quarterback Collin Guggenheim

An outstanding football player and young man is poised to join an outstanding institution next fall.

John Curtis Christian senior quarterback Collin Guggenheim announced his commitment to the United States Military Academy via Twitter.

The 6-foot, 210-pounder earned the Most Outstanding Player in Division I in the state championship game in 2018 as the Patriots drilled Catholic High of Baton Rouge.

Among his other honors, Guggenheim was named Offensive Most Valuable Player in District 9-5A and he was an All-District performer as a sophomore in 2017 in leading John Curtis to a state title game appearance.

Thus far at Curtis in three varsity seasons, Guggenheim has rushed for 2,533 yards and 46 touchdowns while passing for 2,656 yards and 22 touchdowns.

In addition to West Point, Guggenheim had offers from Colgate, Nicholls and Lamar, among others.
