The recruiting process is very fluid, evidenced by the fact that LSU lost one recent commitment but gained another for their 2020 class in a matter of hours Friday.

Jaden Navarette had a change of heart, de-committing from the Tiger to pledge to Oregon.

In the meantime, the Purple and Gold scooped up another 4 star prospect verbal from Josh White, a linebacker out of Houston. Dave Aranda and Dennis Johnson are responsible for his recruitment. White becomes the 11th commitment for the Tigers for 2020.

The 6-1, 200 pounder originally committed to Oklahoma State but White had also recently visited Texas. He also considered Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Texas, TCU, Kansas State, Missouri, Miami, North Carolina, Arizona, Nebraska,Iowa State, South Carolina, Colorado, Duke, Baylor and Alabama.

White, a Cy Creek product, earned All District 17-6A Defensive MVP as a junior after compiling 96 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and one sack. He actually had better numbers as a sophomore (119 stops, 12.5 TFL and a sack).

His style is reminiscent of former LSU linebacker Albert Richardson, the school’s all time career leading tackler with 452 stops in the early 1980’s. Ali Highsmith and Duke Riley are more recent standouts to whom White compares favorably. All three arrived on the light side, yet gained size and strength over their years in the program.

White demonstrates outstanding athleticism and good closing speed, taking no false steps. He diagnoses at the snap of the ball, takes good angles to ball and accelerates quickly.
